Movie plot

The Netflix Special starts with Chelsea sharing her experiences through the pandemic and the advantages of not having a child. From waking up at 10 AM in a peaceful house to sharing mushrooms with her landscaper in the backyard, she was proud of the life decisions she had made so far. One after the other, the punchlines hit the mark and made the audience laugh. Her experiences of being a mom to several rescue dogs and comparing it to having an actual human child – she is proud of her decision. She also shared accounts of spending a few days with her sister and her children during the pandemic and how it was one of the hardest times. That segment of the show was more like having a conversation with a close friend; she ensured the audience felt included. Moreover, her accounts of meeting horrible men were the most hilarious. The inability of men to hold a decent conversation on a first date to never being able to dress appropriately for an event, she ranted through humour. Nevertheless, she still maintained her confidence through those instances, and nothing could affect her self-esteem, which is quite inspiring. Along with her snappy wisecracks about those miserable encounters, she included some hard-hitting truths about the power imbalance women still face in society. She declared that every man owes women an apology for the age-long oppression they have been subjected to. During the show’s last few minutes, she opened up about her relationship with Jo Koy. She shared several instances where Jo was incredibly respectful and supportive of her and felt lucky she finally found “her person”. Urging fellow women in the audience and everywhere to avoid settling down from the fear of old age or societal expectations and responsibilities, she ends the show. The comic lets loose on her life choices, rowdy rescue dogs, dating frustrations, and why society owes women an apology.
