Greville Wynne was a Cold War-era spy who bravely risked his life to protect the West from falling into the grasps of Communist ideals. Through clandestine meetings and tireless backroom negotiations, he managed to gain the trust of his top Russian source known as Oleg Penkovsky: an intelligence officer in Moscow. With Wynne’s genuine interest in learning about Soviet policies as well as Penkovsky’s keen insights into the inner workings of Russian policy makers, these two were able to form an unlikely team whose efforts yielded vital intelligence for the West—maintaining a precarious balance between both sides during some of the fiercest years of the Cold War.
